***STAR CAR***

Disappointed by the performance of the Dodge Charger 500 in NASCAR competition, Dodge racing engineers returned to the drawing board and conceived one of the most outrageous machines of the musclecar era, the Daytona. Retaining the 500’s flush rear glass, Dodge added a pointed nosecone to cut through the air up front, and a horizontal spoiler mounted high on struts to balance the front aerodynamics.

While the wing was not functional at normal speeds, it supplied both downforce and directional stability at the car’s upper limits, and was coincidentally startling in appearance. Not only did Dodge finally have its winning NASCAR racer, it had also created an ageless classic. The car could be had with the Hemi or the 440 Six Pack; the most popular choice was the 375-horsepower 440 4 barrel, which powers this Hemi Orange ’69 Daytona.

This is an excellent example of the famous winged factory hotrod, well-cared for and extremely clean throughout. Along with the brilliant Hemi Orange finish and White wing, the car features a Black interior with woodgrain-trimmed center console, interior lighting package, power steering and brakes and Redline tires on Magnum wheels.

The owner takes particular pride in this car, pointing out that the items listed in its Galen Govier report have all been addressed and corrected. The car also retains its original numbers matching 375 horsepower single-carb 440 Super Commando engine, three-speed A727Torqueflite automatic transmission and 3.55:1 rear end.
