***STAR CAR***

In 1970 the performance engine options available for the new E-body expanded from previous years, with five V8 engines available including the mighty 426 Hemi. The performance-optioned cars became known as ‘Cudas; the 440 and Hemi models were given special high-performance suspension and brakes to handle the heavier engines.

At only 250 dollars, the 440 Six-Pack was the bargain of the engine list. Known as the V-Code engine, the 1970 390-horsepower Six-Pack used new heavier connecting rods and external balancing, a special cam, flat-tappet lifters and freer-flowing heads to maximize the benefits of the extra carburetion.

This In-Violet Purple 440 Six-Pack Cuda is particularly well-optioned. External trim includes white “440” body stripes, G36 dual body-color side mirrors, hood tie-down pins, dual chromed exhaust outlets and a rare body-colored elastomeric front bumper. The interior combines elegant White seating and door panels with Black carpets and woodgrain-trimmed dash and console.

The engine compartment shows off a high level of attention to detail. Behind the 390-horse, Six-Pack-fed 440 lies a heavy duty A-727 Torqueflite automatic transmission driving through a rare 4.10:1 Dana Go Performance axle package. The car runs on correct Rallye wheels wearing Goodyear Polyglas GT tires.

A clean, restored matching-numbers 440 Six-Pack ‘Cuda with great power and options, this car shows and drives beautifully.
