*** This car to be offered at *** Auction Selling Time For This Lot is Saturday 3:25 PM *** Chevrolet expanded the engine roster of their successful Chevelle for 1965, adding a hot new 350hp 327. But the big news was the introduction of the 396 cubic inch big-block Mk IV in the popular SS model. Dubbed Z16, it featured a high-lift hydraulic cam, big-port cylinder heads, aluminum intake and a four-barrel Holley carb, fully dressed with chromed valve covers and a dual-snorkel air cleaner. Heavy duty suspension components comprising shocks, springs, brakes from the full-size line and a rear sway bar were included in the SS396 package. This frame-off restored Chevelle SS396 4-speed is documented in the Z16 Registry as a matching-numbers example, one of the 210 cars built. The gorgeous Regal Red finish is trimmed with SS décor, bright wheel arch moldings and door edge guards. The distinctive five-spoke SS hubcaps and Gold Stripe tires are correct and immediately recognizable details. The Black SS interior includes a center console, deluxe bucket seats, padded dash, tilt-column Sport Style walnut grain wheel and AM/FM radio. Highlights: - Rare big-block Z16 SS396 4-speed - The first of the big-block Chevelles - Original Regal Red exterior with Black interior - Numbers matching - On the Z-16 Registry as one of 201 cars built - Complete frame-off restoration - SS interior: bucket seats, console - Tilt-column Sport steering wheel |
